Who We Are
Home-Start Newry & Mourne is a local family support charity, part of the Home-Start UK network. We help families with young children deal with the challenges they face.
We believe that parents are the most important people in their children's lives. Sometimes families face difficulties that can feel overwhelming—whether it's isolation, illness, disability, bereavement, the challenges of multiple births, or simply the everyday stresses of bringing up children.
That's where we come in. Our trained volunteers visit families in their own homes, offering practical help, emotional support, and a friendly listening ear. We work with families to help them build on their strengths and find their own solutions to their problems.

What We Do
We provide free, confidential support to families with at least one child under five years old.
Home-Visiting Support
A trained volunteer visits your home regularly, typically for 2-3 hours each week. They provide companionship, practical help, and a listening ear.
Practical Help
From help with the children to assistance with household tasks, our volunteers provide hands-on support tailored to your needs.
Emotional Support
Sometimes you just need someone to talk to. Our volunteers listen without judgement and help you build confidence in your parenting.
Information & Signposting
We can help connect you with other services and support in your area, from health visitors to local groups and activities.
Building Confidence
We work alongside you, not for you. Our goal is to help you recognise your own strengths and capabilities as a parent.
Flexible Support
Every family is different. We tailor our support to fit your unique situation and work at a pace that suits you.
